Cast Iron

Cast Iron

The cast iron series is manufactured from top-quality cast iron, which is subsequently glazed with oil at a high temperature to give the product a natural non-stick Slip-Let® finish. Cast iron conducts and retains heat well, making it a superb material for frying. Cast iron is also ideal for serving when food needs to be kept hot at the table. The products can be combined with the rest of the Eva Trio concept. Design: Ole Palsby

Grill Pan, enamel finish, Cast Iron

Ideal for frying meat, fish and vegetables. Produces the perfect grill pattern, and requires only a minimum of fat when cooking. The pan is enamelled, so will not rust.
Tips and usefull advice:

Before use:
• Remove labels and wash the utensil in hot water to remove any impurities from production. The utensils have been baked in oil at a high temperature to provide them with a natural non-stick surface. It is therefore not necessary to prepare them further before use.

During use:
• The right temperature for frying can be found by putting a little fat into the utensil. Turn on the heat and when the fat begins to sizzle the pan is ready for frying. During frying we recommend turning the heat down to medium or low. This provides the best result.
• Eva Trio cast iron utensils can withstand very high temperatures so it is an advantage to use them in the oven when cooking.
• If the utensils are used on a glass ceramic cooker, care should be taken to lift them rather than drag them across the ceramic plate to avoid scratches.
• Do not keep food leftovers in the utensils for prolonged periods.

After use:
• Cast iron utensils should NOT be put into a dishwasher, as this will degrease the material. Clean the utensils with hot water and a soft brush or sponge as soon as possible after use. In order to retain the layer of grease, use of detergents should be avoided as much as possible. Stubborn spots are most easily removed by putting a little water into the pan and boiling it. Otherwise cast iron should not be used to boil water in, as it will rust if degreased.
• Always dry cast iron utensils thoroughly after washing them - possibly by heating them gently on the cooker.
• It is a good idea to apply a thin layer of cooking oil to pans now and again if they begin to look dry. If food continues to stick to the pan when frying, this may be due to the fact that it has "lost its baked-in surface".
• Baking in cast iron utensils: Carefully scrape off any food remnants. Then cut some bacon into small pieces and distribute it at regular intervals on the bottom of the utensil. Then fry on LOW heat until the bacon is crisp. Pour off any surplus fat and wipe off the surface with a paper towel. The utensil is now ready to be used again.
• Should the product become slightly rusty, this can be easily removed: Wash in detergent and rub off the rust with a sponge. Rinse and dry the utensil thoroughly and bake it in again (see instructions above).
